NEW YORK, Nov 20 (KUNA) — United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon late Tuesday expressed hope that the continued improvement in the Iraq-Kuwait relations would expand to include economic and cultural ties.

In his periodic report to the Security Council on the work of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Ban said he is “pleased with the continued improvement in relations” between the two countries, including Iraq’s allowing Kuwait to open consulates in Erbil and Basra. (more…)

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed former Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov as his special envoy to Iraq, according to a UN statement.

BAGHDAD (Iba) was Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon expressed regret yesterday for lack of tangible progress in the issue of missing Kuwaitis and Kuwaiti property in Iraq.

He recommended Ki-moon in his semi-annual on these issues to the UN Security Council, to continue to fund the international coordinator Supreme Gennady Tarsov until the end of the year.
