The Kuwaiti ambassador in Baghdad, said Friday that his country had begun development of legal and administrative procedures to facilitate the entry of Iraqi merchants to Kuwait in order to expand trade between the two countries.

He said in a statement to the insured singled out by the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the government decided to Alkotah understanding with the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce on a facility to enter the Iraqi traders to work in Kuwait in order to expand trade between the two countries.”

He added that “the procedures to enter the Iraqi traders shortened the Chamber of Commerce of Iraq and the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Immigration Kuwait, and will facilitate and speed up procedures (visa) to allow them to carry on business in Kuwait in the shortest period.”

He said, “Kuwait is working with the Iraqi government to expand trade and stimulate participants between the two countries and to avoid misunderstandings about some of the issues through constructive dialogue between the two sides.”

Iraq had announced its intention to build a port of Faw since 2005, where he laid the foundation stone in April 2010, a year before the Kuwait Declaration at the port of Mubarak, but he did not initiate the implementation process so far.

Placed in Kuwait in April the foundation stone to build a port, “Mubarak Al-Kabeer” in Bubiyan Island, which lies in the far north-west Persian Gulf, and is the second largest island in the Gulf (890 square kilometers) after the Iranian island of Qeshm.
