NEW YORK, Nov 25 (KUNA) — UN Special Envoy for Iraq Nickolay Mladenov on Monday said further Iraq-Kuwait commitment and the improvement of the security situation in Iraq will bring about closure of the missing Kuwaiti persons and property files “as quickly as possible.
“It has been too long, already. The outstanding issues on the missing persons and property need to be closed as quickly as possible. It is very encouraging that both the Iraqi and Kuwaiti authorities are committed to work together,” Mladenov told KUNA following a Security Council meeting on the situation in Iraq, including its relation with neighbouring Kuwait. NEW YORK, Nov 20 (KUNA) — United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon late Tuesday expressed hope that the continued improvement in the Iraq-Kuwait relations would expand to include economic and cultural ties.
In his periodic report to the Security Council on the work of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Ban said he is “pleased with the continued improvement in relations” between the two countries, including Iraq’s allowing Kuwait to open consulates in Erbil and Basra. (more…)

A parliamentary source said that the Ministry of Planning reported that the number of House of Representatives of Iraq’s population is now 35 million people.
The council has asked the Ministry of Planning statistics on the number of population in order to determine in the new draft law for elections, the number of MPs in the next session. (more…)
